TejKohli Foundation helps boy realize his dream of becoming A Doctor
Miguel was a 15-year-old with a dream: to become a doctor and help his village and the region around it accomplish better medical care and facilities. But growing up amid dismal poverty himself, the young Costa Rican had no reason to believe he would ever get the opportunity to even see the inside of a medical school classroom.
But then the Tej Kohli Foundation entered Miguel’s life, and has already made a great difference. The foundation’s staff heard about his potential, and selected him three years ago to be one of the first 12 students the charitable organization wanted to assist with school expenses and other basic needs.
Even as the program has grown to assist 72 students currently and a projected 125 students next year, the Foundation is making certain that it doesn’t lose its focus on each one of the youths it helps. Founder Tej Kohli was inspired to start the charity three years ago after moving to the Guan caste region of Costa Rica and saw the incredible struggles some children and their families had to face on a daily basis there, and his goal was to emerge above the poverty that engulfed the region by helping the brightest kids receive the financial support they need to attend higher education with better facilities.
With the support of Tej kohli foundation, Miguel looks forward to the future with happiness and positivity.
